A Technique Training
This training emphasizes precise, organic transitions between positions of structural strength and clarity. The warm-up references yoga, pilates, and alignment oriented techniques. It proposes five levels of structural support for the skeletal frame and the notion of displacement in space as a compositional device.
Combination work is considered as a choreographic framework for exploration of personal movement re-patterning. All sequences are done on ‘both sides’ to allow observation of bilateral tendencies - discovering what we learn from each orientation. Sequences are first slowly revealed as movement explorations, and then with a attention toward effective dynamics and individual timing. Part of the excitement is the discovery in seeing the choreographies transform as they gather impulses from dynamic qualities.
